.) The Pilot compares his severe injury to a dead cat on a sofa. The simile reveals that the pilot is in the state of mind where he can laugh and joke about his injuries.

.) That quote heightens the suspense of the story because it seems like the pilot is starting to get paranoid under the pressure and he might just be heading for danger.

.) I think the Pilot is afraid that he wont be able to see his family again if he falls in the water.

.) I think the pilot either passed out or dozed off.

.) He was so use to hearing the loud bass noises from when the war was going on so he thought he was still there, but he was really just in the hospital and airplanes were going by.

.) They might signify danger and trouble. The nurse seems like she is trying to keep the pilots mind off of what's going on so that he wont try to retaliate.

.) I think the pilot was about to say the water is not the way its suppose to be, so he thinks he somewhere else.

.) That he is some what delirious, but he wants to prove to every one that he is not crazy at all, and he is a very determined person.

.) They Pilots says that "He is in France" because he knew very well that he wasn't in Brighton he just had to come to his conclusion so that he knew for sure that he wasn't going crazy.

.) The pilot knows exactly what's going on and he relies that he is talking to a french soldier.
