1. The pilot compares his severe injury to finding a dad cat on a sofa. I think the simile reveals that he jokes around when he has an injury or a severe injury.
2. The repetition of "I'm going to pass out" heightens the suspense of the story because he was acting like the injury was nothing and he was calm,  now he is about to pass out and you want to know what happens next.
3. I think he is afraid to land in the water because he could pass out and drown or he can get killed by enemy pilots.
4. I think after the pilot describes the sun and the clouds as whiteness and blackness he descends down, lands on the ground and passes out.
5. Details from the second column helps reveal the author's time period and background because he can tell the engine of a Junker 88 and it reveals that he has been bombed before, because he knows the sound of the plane.
6. The planes signify that a battle was going to start. I can infer that the nurse wants the pilot to stay calm and not to worry, so that he wouldn't do anything to injure himself more.
7. I think the pilot was about to say the water wasn't hard in Britain. The fantastic thought that occurred to him was he was not in Britain.
8. His actions reveals that he is determined because he was able to crawl to window with 1 leg. He got to the window to see he was in France.
9. He concluded he was in France because he saw a sign that said G-A-R-D-E-A-U C-H-I-E-N and it meant beware of dog in French.
10. I infer that he was capture by Germans. He remembered that if he got captured to only tell them his name, rank, and number and he realized he was captured.
11. The pilot of brave because he endured a missing leg and wasn't afraid of flying a broken plane but He was joking about his injuries. He was a man that knew about what to do in situations like getting captured by Germans.
